LG Arena KM900 vs. LG Viewty Smart GC900

LG Arena KM900 and LG Viewty Smart GC900 are two of LG's flagship touchscreen phones, so you're probably wondering: which one is better?

We can't say for sure, but we can show you some pictures with the two phones, head to head.

The Viewty Smart looks more elegant than the KM900, but that's probably because of the Arena's pink version.

LG GW825 touchscreen phone in the works

Update: LG GW825 is the LG IQ for Telus Canada.

LG's GW series currently includes the LG GW300, the LG GW520 / GW525 and the Windows Mobile smartphone LG GW550.

Well, soon we'll have an LG GW825, which, if we're to judge after its model number, may be a high-end phone. In fact, it almost certainly is, since it features a 480 x 800 pixels touchscreen display.

The GW850 also has a hardware keypad -- which could be QWERTY, since all the other LG GW phones have one.

Stay tuned for the first pictures of the LG GW825 -- we'll probably be the first to unveil them.

LG GB130 simple phone goes to Russia

LG has launched a new basic slider phone in Russia -- the LG GB130.

The phone costs only 2,990 rubles (95 USD), and for that money you get a 2-inch, 120 x 160 pixels display, FM radio with a dedicated button, dual-band GSM/GPRS connectivity, and up to 6.5 hours of talk-time (thanks to the 950 mAh battery).
LG GB130 should be available in other European countries as well, but we don't know yet when.

LG BL42 Chocolate pics and specs

The high-end LG BL40 has a little brother, named LG BL42 Chocolate and coming as a direct successor of the older Chocolate phones.

As you can see in the pics below, the LG BL42 looks really nice:

The new BL42 Chocolate features a touch sensitive nav-pad, a QVGA display, 5 Megapixel camera and 3G connectivity. LG will probably announce the phone in the next few months.

LG BL40 Chocolate in live pictures

The LG BL40 Chocolate -- one of LG's next flagship Black Label Series phones -- has appeared in some live pictures, which confirm its existence and the fact that it will be a very interesting device.

Tale a look for yourselves at the pics below -- you don't get to see too many phones like this one. The features of LG BL40 will include: 800 x 345 pixels touchscreen display with multitouch input and a 21:9 aspect ratio, HSDPA, accelerometer, GPS, Wi-Fi, and a 5 Megapixel camera with Schneider Kreuznach optics and flash.

The BL40 is not a smartphone, so it uses LG's proprietary Active Flash UI.

We're guessing that the phone will be announced this fall the latest.

Telstra launches LG GM730f, Xenon, Viewty Smart

Australia's first mobile carrier, Telstra, has recently announced three new LG phones: LG GM730f, LG Viewty Smart and LG Xenon.

The LG handsets were announced by Telstra at the same time with the HTC Touch Pro2, Sony Ericsson W995 and Sony Ericsson W508 -- but we'll obviously not going to talk about these non-LG handsets now.

Since all three LG phones feature HSDPA connectivity, they're included in Telstra's Next G line-up.

LG Xenon is available from Telstra as of July 14, in a black color version. Starting July 28, the phone will also come in "Blue Jean". Telstra offers the LG Xenon for free with a two-year agreement and a monthly plan of at least 40 AUD, or for 589 AUD outright.
Also available starting July 14 is the LG Viewty Smart, which features an 8 Megapixel autofocus camera, Schneider Kreuznach optics, Wi-Fi and many other capabilities. The Viewty Smart is free with a two-year Telstra plan of at least 80 AUD per month, or 979 AUD outright.
LG GM730f -- the Australian version of GM730 -- will be launched by Telstra on July 28, via the Melbourne and Sydney T[life] stores. Starting August 11, the Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone will be available in other channels too. Its price is similar to the one of LG Viewty Smart. Source: Press release

LG Application Store now in Australia, Singapore

It's finally launched: the LG Application Store went live in Australia and Singapore, offering 1,400 apps for Windows Mobile -- the only phones supported at the moment are LG GM730 (GM730f for Australia) and the older LG KS20.

The available apps can be sorted by categories:

• Business
• Education
• Entertainment
• Finance
• Games
• Healthcare
• Lifestyle
• Productivity
• Reference
• Navigation
• Travel
• Utilities

LG will launch the App Store in many other markets across Asia, Europe and Latin America by the end of the year.

Support for Symbian will probably be added soon -- since we saw the Application Store almost installed on the S60 KT770.

Even if you're not from Australia or Singapore, you can check out the LG Application Store right away by visiting LGApplication.com

LG GC990 Louvre -- 12 Megapixel concept camera phone

It may never be commercially released, but the LG GC990 Louvre is definitely a way too cool phone.

It's LG's first 12 Megapixel concept handset and it theoretically has a camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, auto focus, touch focus, xenon flash and HD video recording at 30 frames per second. A new feature called Intellizoom is also included, but we don't know what it's all about at the moment.

Even more, the GC990 Louvre features a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 16 million colors, S-Class Touch UI, Wi-Fi (DLNA certified), GPS, TV-out, Bluetooth and DivX/Xvid playback support.
According to LG:
"The GC990 or 'Louvre' mobile phone from LG, is a great example of the type of mobile technology innovation LG is developing. This is a concept model only however, and as such there are no confirmed plans to bring it to market. As we have further details on our camera-phone portfolio or other mobiles, LG will provide information on where and when they will be available to consumers."

LG GW300 could be a smartphone but is not

How about an LG handset that looks like a smartphone but isn't? That's what the LG GW300 is -- a phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and a look that puts it next to Nokia's E71, HTC's Snap and RIM's BlackBerry Curve.

The LG GW300 should soon be available for purchase in Europe, and since it's not a smartphone it will be cheaper that the handsets mentioned above. We don't know just how cheaper, but we'll announce when we find out.

Until then, let's have a look at the features of LG GW300:

• 2.4-inch QVGA display
• full QWERTY keyboard
• Facebook client pre-installed
• GSM/EDGE connectivity only
• Bluetooth 2.0
• USB 2.0
• 3.2 Megapixel camera -- although it might be just a 2 Megapixel one
• 96 grams Source: lgblog.de

LG BL40 is a Black Series Chocolate phone

We were the first to report about the LG BL40 -- an unreleased LG phone that has a weird 345 x 800 pixels display.

As it turns out, LG BL40 is the company's next flagship phone from the famous Chocolate series. Announced on July 7, the new handset is also part of the Black Label series (which includes the LG Secret and the LG Shine).

LG provided few details on the phone, and only teaser pictures of it, like this one right here:

LG BL40 will be released sometime in August. It will be available through Vodafone in Europe, and probably through Telus in Canada. The US will likely get it as well, but we don't know via which carrier -- probably both AT&T and Verizon.
