FCC OKs the LG GW525, maybe for AT&T?

Also known as LG GW520 and LG Callisto, the LG GW525 has been approved by the FCC (as GW525g) and since it features 850/1900 GSM and WCDMA connectivity, it's theoretically ready for AT&T's network. Still, we have no info about a possible LG GW525 release on AT&T, so this might never happen.

However, we've heard that the GW525g will be launched in Latin America -- Argentina and Chile -- but we don't know when exactly.

LG GW520 / GW525 / GW525g is a touchscreen phone with a 240 x 400 pixels display, sliding QWERTY keyboard, push email, document viewer, threaded SMS, Bluetooth, MP3 & MP4 player, 3.15 Megapixel camera, 40MB of memory and microSD card slot.

LG GD510 Pop review shows up

Launched less that one month ago in Europe, LG GD510 Pop is the South Korean company's latest affordable touchscreen phone. At 97.8 x 49.5 x 11.2 mm, LG GD510 Pop is actually the smallest 3-inch touchscreen phone on the market, and this will probably make many customers look at it with interest.

Interesting about the GD510 is that you can buy a solar back panel for it. If held 10 minutes under the sun, the panel can provide enough power for up to two minutes of talk time.

GSM Arena has recently published a review of the LG GD510 Pop and -- as we've expected -- the review is favorable.

Some things we really need to mention from the review: the 240 x 400 display offers a good image quality, but suffers when it's out in the sun; the phone's virtual landscape QWERTY keyboard is pretty good; web browsing is "generally nice"; there's no support for DivX and XviD, but the 3 Megapixel photo camera is excellent (no less) "for a fixed focus unit"; the phone's battery can last about 5 days on regular use.

Apart from the solar panel and the improved S-Class UI, LG GD510 Pop doesn't offer many new things when compared to the LG Cookie. Even so, the phone is a "neat little gadget that's keen to build on the Cookie success" -- and we're glad to hear that.

LG GW300 preview

Available in Europe since last month (from Orange UK and O2 UK, for example), LG GW300 is an interesting messaging handset targeted at users who don't want a high-end smartphone but do need the benefits of a full QWERTY keypad.

The LG GW300 has been previewed in Russia, where it was deemed as being compact enough and having a nice build quality.

The keys of LG GW300 are rubberized and have a soft texture. It looks like typing on its QWERTY keypad is nicer than typing on Nokia E71's keypad -- and that is something. Sure enough, the GW300 does not have 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi, but if you don't need these features, the phone will probably not disappoint you.

All in all, the LG GW300 is a solid product for its price (around 140 Eur unlocked) and it can also be used as a musisc phone, since it has a 3.5mm headset jack.

Some LG GW300 vs Nokia E71 photos are included after the break.

LG GW620's price: about $330

LG's first Android smartphone, the GW620 Etna, will be available in the UK starting January 2010. Unlocked, the LG GW620 will be priced at about £200 -- that's 224 Eur or $330. Not a bad price, right?

LG GW620 may not have astonishing features, but it's definitely a smartphone that you have to check out. It has quad-band GSM connectivity, HSDPA, a HVGA touchscreen display, full sliding QWERTY keyboard, AGPS, WiFi, document viewer, 5 Megapixel camera, memory card support, and runs Android 1.5 -- although it will probably be updated to Android 1.6.

2010 will be the year when LG will seriously try to take over the smartphone market.

Louise Perry from LG UK said:
"We haven't had a strong smartphone story before. In 2010 we will have one, and will be bringing Android in to a number of propositions from entry level all the way right through our roadmap."
