LG KM555 coming to Rogers?

LG KM555, the new touchscreen phone that was officially presented in Ukraine as LG KM555E, will probably be released in Canada soon, via Rogers Wireless -- which also sells the LG Xenon and LG GW620 Eve.

We know that the KM555 may hit Rogers from here, although an exact release date (or a confirmation from Rogers) has yet to come.

The phone features a 240 x 400 pixels screen, Bluetooth, MP3 player, FM radio, 3 Megapixel camera with video recording, and memory expansion slot. And while the Ukrainian LG KM555E doesn't seem to have 3G, the KM555 destined for Rogers has HSDPA.

LG KT770 to be renamed or cancelled

We knew that something was fishy about the LG KT770. Announced by LG in February at MWC '09, the KT770 was supposed to be one of the company's few smartphones based on Symbian. However, the handset's not released and it may never be.

We've contacted LG by email and asked about the fate of KT770. This is what we've learned:
As you know the KT770 was meant to be launched nearly a year ago now. The trouble we have is smartphones and cellular data networks are constantly being updated and improved. The KT770 has software on it that now needs to be improved to keep up with the changes and improvements we are seeing.

Unfortunately, after contacting our marketing and sales team, they still cannot give us a release date so we cannot guarantee the release date or if it actually will be. We have been told it maybe re-branded under another name.
So it looks like Nokia's almost dead Symbian S60 3rd Edition is to be blamed if the KT770 never hits the market.

If the smartphone gets to be renamed, though, we'd suggest LG to put Android on it -- but they'll probably have to change its display's resolution from 240 x 400 to 320 x 480 pixels for that. Oh and call it LG Phoenix or something alike.

LG Shine II announced by AT&T

LG Shine II for AT&T is now finally official, two years after the original Shine was introduced in the US.

The Shine II form LG brings even more style than the first Shine, featuring a glossy exterior and polished round edges. Unfortunately, the phone's specs are somewhat the same (QVGA display, 2 Megapixel camera), the only noticeable differences being the presence of GPS (AT&T Navigator), multitasking and video recording.

LG Shine II will be in AT&T's stores starting November 22, for $119.99 on contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate.

LG L-01B, L-02B and L-03B for docomo's STYLE series

Japan's NTT docomo announced that it has three new LG phones ready to be released in the months to come, all of which will be included in the carrier's STYLE series -- alongside phones like Fujitsu F-02B, Sharp SH-04B and Panasonic P-02B.

These new LG phones are all clamshells and they will be available in a multitude of colors.

LG docomo STYLE series L-01B features a 3.0-inch WVGA display, a secondary screen just above the keypad, and a 5 Megapixel camera. LG docomo STYLE series L-02B features a similar display but its camera has only 3 Megapixels. LG docomo STYLE series L-03B also has a 3 Megapixel camera but its display is a QVGA, 2.8-inch one.

Official photos of the L-01B, L-02B and L-03B are included after the break.

LG GW520 available at 3 UK

Launched in the UK quite a few months back, the LG GW520 is now available for 3's customers, both on PAYG and with monthly plans. The phone costs £99.99 on pay as you go (£10 starter top-up included) and it's free on contract with a monthly plan of at least £15.

Of course, for such prices you won't get a high-end device. However, the LG GW520 is still a nice phone, featuring a 240 x 400 pixels touchscreen display, accelerometer, sliding QWERTY keyboard, touch-optimized Facebook application, Skype, Windows Live Messenger, document viewer (DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF), 3.2 Megapixel camera, microSD card slot and HSDPA 7.2Mbps. The phone weighs 125.5 grams, measures 106.5 x 53 x 15.9 millimeters and packs a Li-Ion 950 mAh battery that should last up 5 hours in talk-time mode or 500 hours in standby.

Customers can buy the LG GW520 as of now via 3 UK's online store, in either silver or black.

LG GW520 might soon be released in the US, too, as LG GW525 -- perhaps through AT&T.

LG LN510 coming to Sprint

Sprint is not exactly the carrier where you'll find too many LG touchscreen phones. In fact, you won't find any, as the only LG phones currently offered by Sprint are the LG LX290, LG LX370, LG Rumor2 and LG Lotus.

But an LG touchscreen phone is coming to Sprint. It's the LG LN510, which, according to the Bluetooth SIG, should be available in North America sometime in March 2010. The phone features Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP, and -- probably -- a 240 x 400 pixels display. There may be a 3.2 Megapixel camera in there, too, but we can't be sure of it at the moment.

The LN510 was recently approved by the FCC, which confirms the fact that the phone features CDMA / Ev-Do connectivity. More details and more photos soon.

LG GM730 from AT&T?

Recently launched in India, the LG GM730 Windows Mobile phone may be released in the US, too, by AT&T. FCC recently approved the GM730F (which is essentially a GM730 with 850/1900 MHz HSDPA connectivity) and the phone's User Manual mentions several AT&T services, like Video Share, MEdia Mall and AT&T Music -- despite the fact that it also says "this device is not intended for sale in the USA".

LG GM730 / GM730F features a 240 x 400 pixels touchscreen display, LG's S-Class UI, GPS, Wi-Fi, Qualcomm's MSM7201A 528MHz processor and a 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and Schneider Kreuznach lens.

AT&T didn't announce the LG GM730, but it may do it before the end of 2009. Anyways, we're a bit confused by the fact that AT&T didn't thought about testing the newer LG GM750 rather than the GM730.

Alltel LG 8575 Touch available now

LG Chocolate Touch is available not only through Verizon, but also through Alltel (which is actually owned by Verizon), as LG 8575 Touch.

What's great for Alltel's customers is that the new phone costs only $19.99 with a contract for one year and a Smart Choice pack -- in contrast, Verizon sells it for $79.99 with a two-year agreement.

The features of LG 8575 Touch remain the same: 3-inch 240 x 400 pixels touchscreen display, 3.5mm headset jack, Dolby Mobile technology, FM Tuner, GPS, 3.2 Megapixel camera and 1GB of on-board memory.
"LG and Alltel's effort to raise the bar on sound quality has paid off. Whether you’re listening to music, movies or a voice call, the clarity is remarkable with the feeling of actually being there," says Ehtisham Rabbani, vice president of product strategy and marketing for LG Mobile Phones.

LG KM555 is official -- as KM555E

LG KM555
, the phone that we told you about several months ago, is now sort of official: the handset appeared at LG Ukraine's website as LG KM555E.

We are not sure if this is a music phone, as we initially thought, but the features available make the LG KM555E an entry-level touchscreen device -- somewhat similar to LG Cookie and LG GD510 Pop.

Measuring 104.9 X 52.6 X 11.9 mm and weighing 90 grams, the LG KM555E has a 240 x 400 pixels display, quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity, email, MP3 player, FM radio, 3 Megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.1, 40MB of on-board memory and microSD card support (8GB maximum).

The 950 mAh battery of LG KM555E can provide up to 5.5 hours of talk time or up to 390 hours of stand-by time.

LG has not announced the KM555 / KM555E yet, so pricing details are not available for the time being.
