LG GS100 and GS200

LG is quietly rolling out a new series of phones -- the GS, which will likely include only low-end devices, like the ones from the GB series. The first two phones included in the GS series are LG GS100 and LG GS200, both candybars.

The LG GS200 features tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity, a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels and 256k colors, 3.5mm headset jack (goodie), stereo speakers, MP3 player, Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio with RDS, email, 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording, microSD card support (8GB) and a 1100 mAh battery (stand-by: up to 550 hours; talk time: up to 6.5 hours; music playback: up to 14 hours). The phone measures 106 x 48 x 13.8 mm, weighs 85 grams and should be released soon for about $130 (or 93 Euros).

The LG GS100 doesn't have a photo camera, and comes with a really small display -- 128 x 128 pixels, we assume. We don't know when it will be launched and neither for what price (under $100 is a fair guess though).

  1. I have the one pictured at the bottom - it's great! It does exactly what a phone should do - makes calls, sends SMS, has an alarm. I actually wish it didn't have the FM radio as it's just another piece of fluff I don't want.
I know people love Smartphones, but I seriously hate them. I just want a phone that is a phone - and this one is great!

  2. yo tengo un GS100 y me parece que es un telefono excelente; se escucha claro, la bateria le dura entre 6 y 7 dias, y como dice el anonimo anterior, es cierto hace lo que un telefono deberia hacer, y lo hace excelente.

  3. I have 2 of these, one is on charge in the car constantly and the other is on me. The battery last for weeks and it's very tough (I'm a tradesman and it's always in my pocket). It's great bang for very little buck and I laugh at all the other tradies who are constantly whinging to me about their iPhones! :-)

  4. I bought a GS 100 in China (to have a localized phone without SIM lock there), it's cheap (200 Yuan) and does its job (which in China includes texting in Chinese), it's robust and small. It's definitely the opposite of an expensive, fragile, and big smartphone.
