LG KM555 / KM555e preview

It's been a while since we've uncovered the LG KM555 / KM555e, and now we're presenting you the first preview of the phone. The LG KM555 preview comes, unsurprisingly, from Russia, where Mobile-review has the phone since last year.

What we have here is an Arena meets Cookie handset with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display and a simple but nice design. The phone's UI is similar to the one we already saw implemented in the LG GD510 Pop. There are various widgets and you have access to social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.

The phone is an EDGE-only device, so you'll be probably missing the 3G connectivity. Fortunately, the LG KM555 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g.

The KM555 has pretty good music capabilities, helped by features like a 3.5mm headset jack, Dolby Mobile, Music ID, and FM radio with RDS. The KM555 also provides access to LG Music Club, a website where you can search and download songs -- it looks like there will be more than 1 million tracks there in the near future, although the service might be available only in Russia.

Like the UI, the 3.15 Megapixel camera of LG KM555 is similar to the one found in the GD510 Pop, hence it's nothing special.

Bottom line: the LG KM555 quite nice, and if you're in the market for a simple touchscreen phone, you should check it out.

The LG KM555 is currently available in some South-Asian markets. In Europe, the phone will be probably known as LG KM555e and cost 210 to 230 Eur. Rogers might launch the LG KM555 in Canada, with 3G included.

More hands-on photos of the LG KM555e / KM555 after the break -- or at Mobile-review.

  3. I don't agree with the fact that the 3G connectivity is missing. I got this phone in october, and I insist on the fact that 3G is perfectly working !! It is even better than the wifi connexion ...
Concerning the messages options, there is no special features, except that u can organize them into different folders.
The Gallery is similar to the one in LG cookie.
Finally, i think it is important to highlight a point: this phone is able to read microsoft office word 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and PDFs. I guess many of u will appreciate this.
Personally, I LOVE this phone !!
